Calamos Real Estate LLC named Chris Landis, who earlier this year was promoted to vice president at the Chicagoland commercial brokerage, property manager and developer, the firm’s designated managing broker. Landis assumes the role from industry veteran Heidi DeVries who retires this month.
He also was named a finalist in the Emerging Leader category by REJournals, a leading trade magazine, and a lease he brokered with M/I Homes at CityGate Centre was named a finalist in the Most Significant Lease Transaction of 2022. The annual REJournals award winners will be announced in June.
Landis joined the firm in 2019 as an analyst and, in February 2023, was named vice president. He is engaged in development and investment sales, and leads property leasing for the firm. In addition to the M/I Homes lease, which was the largest office-only lease in Naperville during 2022, Landis brought to market “CityGate Flex”, a solution for early-stage businesses in growth stages, which has maintained more than 90 percent occupancy since launch; and he created Calamos Real Estate’s residential property management vertical focusing on the small multifamily niche. In the four years since joining Calamos Real Estate, Landis has leased more than 60,000 square feet of Class A commercial space.
As an entrepreneur, Landis also runs a small business focused on workforce development and durable construction of affordable, modern homes in underserved markets. He volunteers with the nonprofit SEAL Future Foundations, leading the Chicago Chapter, bridging the transition for military personnel into private sector roles.
Prior to joining Calamos Real Estate Landis served in active duty with the U.S. Navy for nine years. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Miami University in Ohio and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.
DeVries has been with Calamos Real Estate for more than 17 years as vice president, senior property manager, and has held the designated managing broker role since 2013. She’s been an active member and invited presenter with BOMA and was recently named among Chicago Women Leading Real Estate by BISNOW. She and her husband are building a home in the Smokey Mountains.
