USDA steakhouse CityGate Grille is teaming up with two popular wineries—Sinegal Estate Winery and The Tedeschi Winery—with unique fall wine events, followed by the Italy-to-Table eatery, Che Figata, taking you on a tasteful tour of Piedmont's Barolo and Truffles in six courses. And there's weekly wine specials at each!

CityGate Grille

The 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, Sinegal Estate Wine Dinner is an exclusive event; it is the only dinner event the highly rated Napa winery is offering in Suburban Chicagoland this year.

Each of the dinner’s five courses will be paired with a Sinegal Estate label. The full menu including pairings is available at CityGateGrille.com.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, Italian winemaker Sabrina Tedeschi comes to Naperville from her family’s more than 400 year-old award-winning vineyards in Valpolicella, Province of Verona, Italy. Ms. Tedeschi will welcome guests at a tasting of her family’s wines, offering unique insight into the nine featured Tedeschi labels, among them Soave, Valpolicella and powerful world class vintages of Amarone. Ms. Tedeschi also will share the story of her winemaking heritage.

Weekly, CityGate Grille hosts its all-day Wine Down Wednesdays. Bottles of wine priced at $80 or less are served at half price.

CityGate Grille is located in the Calamos Investments Building, 2020 Calamos Ct., at CityGate Centre in Naperville. It serves lunch Monday-Friday and dinner Monday-Saturday. It also hosts live jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Tickets, priced at $140 for the Sinegal Estate dinner and $60 for the Tedeschi tasting, are available at CityGateGrille.com.

Che Figata

Enjoy a tasteful tour of Piedmonte in six course as Che Figata presents its Barolo & Truffles dinner, 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16.

To be labeled Barolo a wine must not only be produced in the northern Italian Piedmont region. It also must be produced exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape, grown on a hillside with strict stipulations as to humidity and sunlight, within a distinct zone of the region. Furthermore, it requires at least 36 months of aging, at least half of which must be in wood.

Food & Wine magazine has referred to Barolo as one of Italy’s finest wines.

Each course of the six truffle-featuring dinner courses are thoughtfully crafted to pair with a select Barolo from among five producers in the region.

"The courses in this dinner all feature fresh truffle as the standout ingredient, but not every course is simply fresh grated truffle to finish,” said Chef di Cuisine Liam Athy. “We will have a course with tableside presentation, and majority of the courses will be ‘truffle paired’ in an unexpected, yet extraordinary, manner.”

Athy will be sourcing all products for this dinner, including the truffles, from the highest-quality providers.

“These meticulously selected ingredients will be treated with immense care to create a menu full of surprises and unforgettable dishes,” Athy said.

Wine lovers also will enjoy this Wine Spectator Award-winning restaurant’s White Wine Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, Che Figata offers exceptional bottles of white wine at 50% off simply because they may not look picture perfect. Whether it’s a slightly scuffed label or an overstocked vintage, these wines offer full-bodied flavor and quality at half the price. Available by the bottle, dine-in only.

Che Figata is in suite 103 at 2155 CityGate Lane at CityGate Centre, Naperville. It serves dinner Tuesday-Saturday. Detail and tickets for the Oct. 16 event are priced at $150 and available at CheFigataKitchen.com.
