Chef Showdown: Che Figata supports Loaves & Fishes Community Services

Che Figata, the Italy-to-Table restaurant at CityGate Centre will support Loaves & Fishes Community Services Naperville Chef Showdown, 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. The second annual Chef Showdown will be held at Loaves & Fishes, 1871 High Grove Lane, Naperville.


The event will raise funds for essential services for 4,700 families who are served by Loaves & Fishes each year.


Che Figata Executive Chef Mark Grimes will “compete” with Meson Sabika Executive Chef Crispin Plata to create unique dishes in a stadium kitchen using pre-disclosed ingredients. In tying in with Loaves & Fishes name, one course will feature fish and another, a loaf.



“We are excited to again host this unique event at our facility and are grateful to our sponsors,” said CEO & President Mike Havala. “With the exceptional line-up of chefs, judges, sous chefs, emcee and commentator, this is sure to be a memorable and entertaining evening to help those in need.”


The chefs will be assisted by celebrity sous chefs Dr. Laura Bokar, Fox Valley Institute; Rebecca Boyd-Obarski, Nagle ObarskiPC/Naperville City Council; Joe Chura, Dealer Inspire; and Dave Kelsch, Advanced Data Technologies. Dishes will be voted upon by a panel of select judges including Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico and last year’s Chef Showdown competition winner Chef Eddie Sweeney from Catch 35.


The evening will be emceed by Ray Kinney from Blooming Color and host of Dine Around Naperville. Additional commentary will be provided by Nicki Anderson, President & CEO of Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce.
