THE DATE FOR THE GREAT DESCENT HAS BEEN MOVED TO APRIL 12, 2025.
Join DuPagePads as they make strides in their fundraising efforts to combat homelessness through The Great Descent – an exciting and innovative fundraising initiative organized in collaboration with Over the Edge. Taking place 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at Hotel Arista, 2139 CityGate Lane in CityGate Centre, Naperville, this event will feature around 100 adventurous individuals descending 12 stories down the hotel, the tallest structure in Naperville. In order to participate in the rappelling, each individual must secure a minimum of $1,000 in donations for DuPagePads.
Spectators are encouraged to join the event to show their support for the participants throughout the day, with dining and refreshment options available a few doors down at Lavazza and at Zorba in Hotel Arista.
Event Committee Chair Chuck Manginelli is enthusiastic about uniting the community for this thrilling event that supports an important cause.
“As committee chair for this exciting new event, and a board member of DuPagePads, I have been continually impressed by our innovative solutions to end homelessness and creative ways to involve the community in our mission," said Manginelli in a press release. “This new charitable challenge on September 8 is one of only three (Over the Edge rappelling fundraisers) available in Illinois and it's going to be something to remember as a great way to demonstrate what we can do together as a community when we strive for new heights together.
"We hope you will join us as one of the 92 brave neighbors stepping off the roof of Hotel Arista and helping to end homelessness here at home," he added.
Registration is now open. For questions about special accommodations, sponsorship opportunities and more, email Carrie Flick of DuPagePads.
